The news that Verdansk is finally returning to Warzone has sent fans into a frenzy, but some are convinced that the map is coming with some significant changes.

After months of leaks and rumors, the original Warzone map is finally making its comeback with the Season 3 update, nearly five years after its original launch. It’s something that players have wanted ever since it was replaced by Caldera back in 2021, with many feeling that it’s the CoD BR’s last chance to recover its player count.

The trailer on March 10 confirmed its April 3 and revealed a ton of classic guns and skins that will be returning with Verdasnk, before ending with a shot overlooking the map. However, this has led some players to believe that major map changes are on the way.

Warzone players convinced Verdansk POIs will be destroyed

Shortly after the trailer dropped, a Reddit user shared the final image, arguing that Verdansk is “going to look slightly different,” before adding: “Stadium’s rooftop is going to be closed, some POI’s look on fire so they’re going to be definitely different or destroyed.”

Stadium’s roof being closed lines up with what leaks have said previously, but certain POIs being destroyed or on fire would be a new development that could drastically change the look and feel of the map. As you’d expect, the response has been fairly mixed.

“Love it, if it were the exact same as it was before I guarantee it would get bland even quicker than it will now,” said one player who was keen on potential change.

Meanwhile, some fans were worried that tweaking the map too much would spoil its return. “They’ve already ruined it and it hasn’t even come out yet,” said one reply, while another added: “This design is s**t, bring back the MW2019 version.”

All this being said, as other replies pointed out, it’s also possible that this shot doesn’t necessarily show what the final map will actually look like. The smoke may have been added just to give the trailer a bit of visual flair, while some have argued that it could even represent the gas that closes in.

Verdansk is due to return with the Season 3 update on April 3, so we don’t have too much longer to wait before we finally see the map in action.
